Testing

The Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments designed to evaluate proficiency in academic content. Students must demonstrate proficiency on the Algebra I, Literature, and Biology Keystone Exams to graduate or fulfill one of the other pathways provided to graduate. Students will be offered multiple opportunities to take the Keystones throughout their high school careers.  Here is an infographic provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that outlines Pathways to Proficiency.

WINTER KEYSTONE EXAM INFORMATION (JANUARY 2023)

Testing Schedule is as follows:
Thursday, January 5th:  Keystone Literature
Tuesday, January 10th:  Keystone Algebra
Wednesday, January 11th:  Keystone Biology

All testing will occur in the Information Center and Conference Rooms to minimize distraction and interruptions.  Students will be provided with testing location information when we return from the holiday break.

Each exam is comprised of two modules.  Students will be asked to complete one module in the morning session and one module in the afternoon session.  All students will eat during “B Lunch” on the testing dates.  Attendance is extremely important on these dates, as time is limited to make-up any missed modules.

General information related to the Keystone Exams appears here: Keystone Information for Parents and Guardians-Winter 22-23, as well as information about electronic devices and testing.  Students will be reminded that electronic devices should not be brought to testing locations, and that any devices will be collected prior to testing.

In addition, the “Test Takers Code of Conduct-Winter 22-23” will be reviewed with students prior to testing, as it is essential that students understand the importance of each point.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Cavalier or Dr. McCormick with any questions or concerns at 724-658-5537.

Career Planning

We are very excited to announce the implementation of “SmartFutures,” Career Readiness programming for our students.  Utilizing developmentally appropriate activities, counselors will assist students with finding their career pathways and compiling a career portfolio full of information related to interests and strengths; career acquisition, retention, and advancement; and post-secondary training opportunities.  Watch for more information as we begin implementation of SmartFutures this year with students and families.
