Class of 1944 Alum Visits Shenango Elementary

Mrs. Anne Leone, now 96 years young, has a dear picture of her 6th grade class and loves telling stories to her family about her days at school.  They looked into and found out that the school was still open and had to reach out.  She remarked that our staff and students were so welcoming and kind that it even made her special visit sweeter than ever.  She enjoyed stopping and talking with everyone and even wants to be hired because she always wanted to be a teacher.  She was so interested in the school and how it has changed over the years. She loved the artwork and how clean the school looks.  She particularly liked talking about the history and seeing the original oak handrails and the hardwood flooring from the gym.  We also replicated her 6th grade picture with a 6th grade class of our own!!  Included below is a song written for her for a birthday that describes her perfectly.

Let It Be Known
(Happy Birthday, Anne Leone)
Words & Music by Rick Blackson
Here’s a song ‘bout a very dear lady
Born and raised in New Castle, P.A.
From McDonald then to White Beech Lane
And she lives there to this very day

With her late husband, Phil, a barber
They raised Philip and Gary and Mark
When she talks ‘bout her grand and great grandkids,
You can see her eyes light up and spark!

Let it be shouted let it be known
There’s something we’ve got to say
We sing this song for you, Anne Leone,
And wish you a happy birthday!

If you ever take Anne to go shopping
You’ll enjoy being with her all day
But you won’t get too far before stopping
’cause she greets ev’ryone ‘long the way

She loves cooking and she loves casinos
But her secret to making life fine
Is her daily dose of gin-soaked raisins
And glass of Italian red wine!

Let it be shouted let it be known
There’s something we’ve got to say
We sing this song for you, Anne Leone,
and wish you a happy birthday!
Tanti auguri a te!
“Buon Compleano!”
