Temporary Closure of Shenango Elementary

Over this past several days, several staff and students tested positive for COVID-19, which brought Shenango Elementary to a total of 5 COVID-19 cases. After consulting with the PA Department of Health and following the Department of Education guidelines, Shenango Elementary School will go to full-remote learning beginning Tuesday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 3.  We are planning to resume school in-person on Thursday, March 4 at this time.  However, the Department of Health will assist in contact tracing and determine if additional days will be needed.
During the full-remote period, the district, in conjunction with the Department of Health, will continue to contact trace those students in close contact with the positive individuals. Additionally, we will provide a deep cleaning of the school building while the students are fully remote at home. Once we return to in-person learning, our school case count will reset back to zero and the 14-day rolling period will begin again.
During the school closure, extra-curricular and after-school activities will be canceled at the elementary until we resume in-person learning.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work together in keeping our students, staff, and community safe.
